Wrote some more of Thursday's Child yesterday, with the prospect of the reconstituted Thursday Group meeting on - now, what day could it possibly be? - and got back to the whole idea of the story just being fun. I got taken away from it all with the Toronto trip, and in any case I think I was beginning to write a little bit too ... how to put this? ... consecutively: if that's just happened, what's the next logical step? If you go down to the woods today, there had better be some trees, logical step, but if they're just trees, no surprises and you're not having fun on the trip, let's put the story down and go home.
Oddly easy to forget, and maybe there's "what's written is written" feel even to a 0th draft. But I'm enjoying it again now. Back to the principle: make it up as you go along. And here in the supposedly real world, the wind's getting up at last. Maybe we'll get some of the weather the radio has been promising.
